From Terroir to Treasure, a Tradition of Excellence

From our humble beginnings, Émile Noël has always followed a golden rule: “To create exceptional oils, you have to start with exceptional seeds.” This adage guides our relentless quest for the purest, most precious raw materials.

Every day, we venture into the heart of the land where these natural treasures come to life, for there is nothing quite like a fruit or seed that has ripened under our care to extract its most precious treasures.

Back in 1972, Émile Noël led the way by becoming the first oil mill in France to extract essence from organically grown seeds. We were pioneers in solidarity trade, now recognized as fair trade, establishing our first chain in West Africa as early as 1985.

Our commitment to quality and sustainability remains at the heart of our identity, and it is this passion that has given rise to a multitude of sustainable businesses in France and around the world.

Cameline

pictocertification-biosolidaireBIOPARTENAIRE® – The Camelina industry is a French industry that spans several regions: Creuse, Occitanie and Nouvelle Aquitaine.

We work with a cooperative of 9 farms that grow camelina in crop rotation, located in the Creuse region of France, and which has the exclusive BIOPARTENAIRE® label.

The partnership dates back to 2018, and in 2021, a BIOPARTENAIRE BIOPARTENAIRE® has been initiated at our request for the new harvest.

Hemp

When we wanted to develop hemp oil, it was an obvious choice to work with experts in the field.

Our hemp comes from two farmers, one in the Aube department, which accounts for a third of European production.

But also in the Creuse, an exceptional area, because the Creuse is more of a livestock and cereal-growing area, but lends itself particularly well to the cultivation of hemp. Which makes this approach by Emile Noël a real innovation.

Linen

pictocertification-biosolidaireBIOPARTENAIRE® – La filière Lin is a French network of 9 farms, growing flax in crop rotation on their plots of land, located more precisely in the Creuse region of France. Initiated in 2018, this network of 9 farms will receive the BIOPARTENAIRE® label in 2021 at our request for the new harvest.

Emile Noël has also been working with a cooperative in the Occitanie and Nouvelle Aquitaine regions since 2013. The latter was also awarded the BIOPARTENAIRE® label in 2021.

Sunflower

pictocertification-biosolidaireBIOPARTENAIRE® – The sunflower industry is a French industry, located in the Occitanie region.

Émile Noël buys its produce from a 100% organic cooperative of nearly 1,200 producers.

Emile Noël’s annual purchasing volume is equivalent to the total production of 6 producers.

We work with this cooperative and also support producers in their transition to agro-ecology.

The partnership dates back to 2021 when a BIOPARTENAIRE® label was initiated at our request for the new harvest.

Walnuts

As walnuts are one of the nuts at the heart of French culture, Emile Noel has chosen to work with producers in the Périgord region to develop an exceptional French walnut oil with character.

Haute Provence PDO Olive Oil

Very attached to our Provencal region and its terroir, it was important for us to build a chain with a farmer rooted in the Alpes de Haute Provence region. By working closely with this passionate olive grower, we were able to develop Haute Provence oil with its intense flavor.

Biopartenaire® label

It’s a contract for a minimum period with a group of producers, with a commitment to a minimum quantity per year and a minimum price that is sufficiently remunerative for producers, discussed with the group in complete transparency.

This is the principle of fair trade, with guaranteed outlets for production.

A percentage of buyers’ remuneration goes towards financing projects for producers via a development fund.

MAROCCAN ARGAN

pictocertification-biosolidaireBIOPARTENAIRE® – Created in 2006, the Argan chain in Morocco helps to improve the living conditions of rural Moroccan women, as this product is traditionally harvested by women.

Argan culture was recognized as part of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage byUNESCO in 1999, which has enabled the creation of reserves and the raising of public awareness.

The creation of this sector by Emile Noël has enabled us to make a commitment to this cause.

Kenya Avocado

pictocertification-biosolidaireBIOPARTENAIRE® – Since 2010, Emile Noël has been working with small Kenyan producers to buy their avocado oil production, which until now has often been exploited via intermediaries. In this way, the chain guarantees Kenya’s avocado growers a stable, sustainable income by cutting out the middleman.

SAO TOME COCO

pictocertification-biosolidaireBIOPARTENAIRE® – Emile Noël as a value chain builder, has chosen this Sao Tomé origin to help and support a small producer on the island of Sao Tomé by giving him the opportunity to develop his business on an island where the main source of production is coffee and cocoa.

This chain has been awarded the BIOPARTENAIRE® label, guaranteeing strong commitments to fair and responsible organic farming.

Turkish hazelnut

pictocertification-biosolidaireBIOPARTENAIRE® – In 2008,Emile Noël joined forces with Agrosourcing to develop its Turkish hazelnut business. This partnership has led to an increase in the number of hazelnut growers, enabling us to respond more effectively to growing demand. In this way, it enables producers to secure the future of their farms in an increasingly complicated context, with uncontrollable and increasingly frequent climatic events.

This chain has been awarded the BIOPARTENAIRE® label, guaranteeing strong commitments to fair and responsible organic farming.

Guinea AVOCADO

Emile Noël Guinée was founded in 2018.
Concerned about the quality of our raw materials, we decided to set up an oil mill employing around ten people in Guinea, in the heart of the avocado fields.
As the Group’s aim is to leave as much added value as possible to the producers, it was decided to build a factory on site.

Sesame from Mali

pictocertification-biosolidaireBIOPARTENAIRE® – Mali was one of the first sectors created by the Emile Noël oil mill through the cultivation of sesame seeds in the 1980s. Strengthened by this shared history with this country, the oil mill wished to create its own foundation in 2014, FONDATION EMILE NOËL MALI in order to perpetuate its exchanges. Today, more than 15 people are employed by the foundation to monitor farming activities and train producers, while ensuring compliance with organic farming specifications.

This chain has been awarded the BIOPARTENAIRE® label, guaranteeing strong commitments to fair and responsible organic farming.

Olive - Spain - The family finca

Born in 2014 from the desire of David Garnier, President of the Emile Noel oil mill, to once again become an olive producer, the Finca Familiale olive grove is the result of a strong and ambitious project.
Located in Andalusia, where David Garnier used to spend his family vacations as a child, it was with great emotion that he decided to restore this olive farm.
